Did exactly what it said on the tin

I bought this product to remove the stain from a bannister rail. After several attempts (currently on the sixth try) the wood appears slightly lighter but not much. This could be because the product does not work or that the bannister is stained a dark mahogany brown and is just too dark for the colour to be successfully removed.

It did work but I used plenty of the liquid and wire wool plus elbow grease over a number of days. This was on an oak veneered shelf with 1 coat of stain.It was worth the effort in the end..

I have strip my hall stairs and landing rail using this item ,just needed a light sanding. Very little mess .

This is good with a scrubber. Definitely need to use methylated spirit after though.

It did not work.

Brought this product for door frames and skirting to take off dark stain, sadly didn't do anything.

Used to remove horrible coloured stain that had been applied to new pine doors. Took a couple of coats and a fair bit of sanding, but we eventually got back to a state where we could apply new colour successfully.

This product is probably excellent for removing water based stain. Having read the product reviews one reviewer said that it had removed Ronseal woodstain. I was hopeful it would do the same for me, however it was not suitable and didn't touch it. This was not the fault of the product.

Used this in an attempt to remove stain left after most had been removed by sanding. All it did was leave another lighter stain around the original I was trying to remove. Back to more sanding! The stain I was trying to remove was Manns pine wood stain! Waste of money. However the service from Woodfinishes was,as always excellent.

As described, removes the stain. Just use a bit of elbow grease and some wire wool, and bingo, all done. Might have to go over it again, but if you want the stain removed, then do it again. Easy to use, pleasing result. Fast delivery and great price too.

This really does work! It was a relief to find something that would lift the dark stain from pine furnitire without too much elbow grease!

I needed a product to remove old wood stain from my staircase and banisters, after a lot of research I came across Manns Wood stain Remover, Wood finishes Direct gave it a very good review so I decided to give it a try, I am half way through the task and boy this product is excellent it removes the wood stain with very little effort, firstly I apply it with a sponge allowing it to soak in for 10-15 minutes, then using some steel wool dipped in Manns Wood stain Remover sand over the woodwork, when finished just wash down with clean water and allow to dry and hey presto the Wood Stain has vanished. As cannot rate this product highly enough I now have my doors to do and I will be buying more Manns.

After stripping wood floors, sanding and blow torching back to wOod am not yet convinced that this did lighten the wood. Will try another layer. Nice to use though!

easy to use but need to apply very quickly as it will struggle to take all the stain off if it has dried, very good overall

this is a great product and I would recommend it. It worked well and saved the mess I had made.

This product is great. It's water based, low odour and not at all harsh but does a thorough job of removing water based wood stain.

I needed to remove Ronseal woodstain which had been on an exterior door for 10 years rather than the manufaturer's recommended 5. The stain on the bottom of the door had almost weathered away. However, on the rest of the door the stain was remarkably unworn. The Wood Stain Remover easily got rid of the remaining stain on the weathered portions of the door but required considerably more effort on the less weather-beaten areas. I found the easiest way to tackle the more stubborn bits, so as not to raise the grain too much, was to rub an area with a Scotch-Brite pad and remove, say, 50% of the stain, allow the wood to dry, and then come back a second or third time to remove the rest. A bit time-consuming BUT the Wood Stain Remover did a fantastic job - and it's still easier and cheaper than fitting a new door.
