Manns Premier UV Decking Oil can be used on all pre-treated, pressure treated and preservative impregnated decking timbers, and is also suitable for use on wooden sheds, fences and pergolas.
Ensure decked areas to be oiled are clean, dry and free from surface dirt and debris.
Hardwood decking usually requires a period of weathering to allow the surface grain to open up. This allows for better absorption of the decking oil. Check the decking manufacturer's guidance on how long decking should be left to weather before treating.
Manns UV Decking Oil cannot be used over decking that has been painted, varnished or treated with a coating type stain. Any old surface coatings must be fully removed to expose bare wood before the decking can be oiled.
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish.

To preserve the look and performance of the oiled finish for longer, it is recommended that decked areas are swept with a stiff broom on a regular basis. This is to remove loose leaves, dirt and other organic matter that can settle on the deck and in the grooves.
For deeper cleaning, to remove scuff marks, stains, grease or other contaminants, we recommend the use of a dedicated garden decking cleaner.
To restore decked areas that have become worn or tired looking, the decking can be refreshed and restored by applying a maintenance coat of Manns Premier UV Decking Oil. This should be done after the deck has been cleaned and in accordance with the 'application' instructions above.
You must be very cautious starting any exterior project in wet and cold months. The moisture content of the timber will be high, and the low temperature won't allow the timber to dry out and the product to cure properly. We suggest waiting until we get some better weather. Ideally temperatures above 10°C (including overnight)
The Natural Oak shade is somewhere in between the colours of Light Oak and Dark Oak. The overall colour you will achieve will always differ even when using the same wood species as each piece of wood has its own unique grain density and porosity. A test area will help you to assess the results before completing the project.
It's not recommended to leave a long gap between coats, the waxes and resins will cure hard and will not accept the second coat very well leaving a less durable surface which wont last very long.
This is a multi-purpose, solvent-based oil for all exterior softwood and hardwood. It will do a great job at protecting and enhancing the beauty of your garden furniture regardless of timber species as the Manns Premier UV Decking Oil is very versatile.
Yes, these products are compatible and would help to give the timber just a slight tint of the Light Oak colour without it darkening too much.
