Earthborn Claypaint covers fully and is virtually non-drip. It is excellent for painting dry, absorbent, grease-free surfaces such as wallpaper, wood, plaster including lime plaster, and most common mineral surfaces and can also be used on previously painted sound surfaces. Carries the Safety of Toys Standard (EN71-3:2019), making it ideal for use on children's furniture and toys. Also obtained a 'class 0' fire reaction rating, making it heat resistant up to 80° without impacting the finish.
Please note: This product is mixed to order so cannot be returned with the exception of the colours Flower Pot, Freckle, Humpty Dumpty, Marbles and White Clay . This does not affect your statutory rights.
Surfaces to be painted must be clean, dry and free from all traces of dirt and debris prior to applying Earthborn Clay Paint.
Always do a test area before staring any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
Because Earthborn Claypaint is a natural product, there may be subtle variations in shade between batches. Avoid starting a new container in the middle of a wall. If a large area is to be painted that requires several tins, if possible, pour the required number of tins into a single container and mix thoroughly.
Colours within the Earthborn Claypaint range can be inter-mixed to create a variety of colour shades and tones.
Earthborn paints must be stirred thoroughly before and periodically during use.
Surfaces should be wipeable after about 10 days. If marked, simply wipe down with a slightly dampened, lint-free cloth. It is also often possible to remove surface marks using a pencil eraser or very fine emery paper.
If the finish begins to look worn over time, simply apply a fresh coat of Earthborn Claypaint, following the Application instructions above.
Q. Are clay paints similar to chalk paints?
A. In general, our customers say that Earthborn Clay Paint has a comparable finish to chalk paint. Customers that have used both products tend to agree that chalk paints almost always require a top coat of wax or other to seal the finish. Clay paints are considered to be more durable, therefore not requiring an additional protective top coat. We do however recommend sealing claypaint with Earthborn Furniture Wax when used on furniture as this provides a more durable finish.
Q. I'm looking for a non toxic nursery paint that is safe for both nursery walls and ceiling. Is Earthborn Clay paint suitable?
A. Earthborn clay paints are breathable, virtually odour free, contain next to no VOC's and meet strict eco standards making them ideal as a nursery paint. Earthborn Claypaint is also ideal for nursery furniture but should be over-coated with Earthborn Furniture Wax for added protection and durability.
