Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Gloss

Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Gloss is a water based paint producing a high gloss finish and is 99% solvent free, producing a low odour whilst painting. Suitable for a wide range of surfaces including wood, metal and PVCu and can be used either on interior or exterior surfaces.

To obtain ideal results, the surfaces to be painted are required to be sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or any other surface contaminants.

• Remove all flaking and old, faulty paint either by sanding or with the use of a paint scraper
• Additional precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces as they could possibly contain harmful levels of lead
• If it is required, wash the surface to remove any dirt, grease and dusty or remnants of powdery residues
• To remove any organic growth including mould, fungal, algal or lichen growths, then treat the area with fungicidal solution, such as Sandtex Fungicidal Wash
• Cleanse with clean water and leave to dry
• Any failings in the surface, such as cracks and small holes, need to be be repaired, plugged and sealed with an appropriate filler and sanded smooth
• If necessary, rub down surfaces and then wipe off with a damp, lint-free cloth to remove any remnants of dust

If being applied to a wooden surface, then the additional steps need to be applied:

• Wooden products that have oils/extractives require cleaning with methylated spirits, frequently changing the face of the cloth, and treat any knots with two coats of fresh knotting
• New surfaces and any bare wood will need to be lightly sanded to provide a key and then undercoated with a suitable product, such as Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Primer Undercoat

If being applied to a metal surface, then the following additional steps need to be applied:

• If being applied to new metal, excluding galvanised surfaces, then lightly abrade the surface, rinse clean followed by a coating of a metal primer
• On new bright galvanised surfaces, degrease the surface thoroughly and then pre-treat with a T wash solution, followed by applying a suitable metal primer
• Non ferrous metals require a coat of a suitable metal primer to help Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Gloss adhere to the surface
• Ferrous metals need to be stripped back to their original state with the removal of all surface rust and millscale, then apply a single coat of a suitable metal primer within the same working day
• If the metal surface has been previously decorated, ensure any rust is removed, the edges of the paint are feathered, and the area washed clean and finally wet abrade the surface, rinse and allow to dry. Once dry apply one coat of Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Primer Undercoat

Always produce a test area before the application to assess product suitability and the final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

To achieve regularity of colour, purchase enough paint for each project including an adequate amount for touch-in at a later time.

If it is likely for the air or substrate temperature to fall below 8ºC or when the relative humidity is above 80% during application or the drying period, then do not apply Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Gloss

• Blend the paint by stirring thoroughly before applying and repeatedly during use
• Apply Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Gloss with a good quality synthetic brush, microfibre roller, conventional spray or airless spray system
• If being applied via a spraying system then refer to the manufacturer for the correct dilution ratio
• The "wet edge" technique is advised during the application to help maintain consistent results
• If being applied to a wooden surface, then lay off in the direction of the grain
• The normal finishing procedure is 2 full coats of Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Gloss, though this is variable if applied over a dark surface

Cleaning

It is recommended to gently wipe a damp cloth on painted surfaces, with using a mild detergent for more stubborn scuffs, scrapes and marks.

Maintenance

To preserve the finish, simply apply a fresh coat of Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Gloss as required, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.
