Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Eggshell

Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Eggshell is a water based paint, low odour paint, producing a low sheen eggshell finish and is 99% solvent free. Can be applied by either a roller, brush or spray and is suitable for a wide range of surfaces, such wood , metal and PVCu.

To attain the best results, the surfaces to be painted need to be sound, clean, dry and free from dirt, dust or any other surface impurities.

• Remove any flaking and old, unsound paint either by sanding or with the use of a paint scraper
• Additional safeguards should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces as they may contain harmful levels of lead
• Supposing the presence of organic material, such as mould, fungal, algal or lichen growths, then apply an antifungal, such as Sandtex Fungicidal Wash
• If required, wash the surface to remove any dirt, grease and dusty or powdery residues
• Any surface imperfections are to be be plugged and sealed with a suitable filler and then sanded flat
• Rinse with clean water and allow to dry
• If needed, rub down the surfaces and then wipe off with a damp, lint-free cloth to remove dust

If being applied to a wooden surface, then the additional steps need to be applied:

• Wooden products that have oils/extractives require cleaning with methylated spirits, frequently changing the face of the cloth, and treat any knots with two coats of fresh knotting
• Remove any grey or denatured surfaces by sanding down to the unaffected substrate
• New surfaces and any bare wood will need to be lightly sanded to provide a key for a suitable undercoat, such as Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Primer Undercoat to grip to and provide strong adhesion

If being applied to a metal surface, then the following additional steps need to be applied:

• If being applied to new metal, excluding galvanised surfaces, then lightly abrade the surface, rinse clean followed by a coating of a metal primer
• On new bright galvanised surfaces, degrease the surface thoroughly and then pre-treat with a T wash solution, followed by applying a suitable metal primer
• Non ferrous metals require a coat of a suitable metal primer to help Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Eggshell adhere to the surface
• Ferrous metals need to be stripped back to their original state with the removal of all surface rust and millscale, then apply a single coat of a suitable metal primer within the same working day
• If the metal surface has been previously decorated, ensure any rust is removed, the edges of the paint are feathered, and the area washed clean and finally wet abrade the surface, rinse and allow to dry. Apply a appropriate primer for metal surfaces and then apply a suitable undercoat, such as Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Primer Undercoat

Always create a test area beforehand to evaluate the product suitability and the final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

To reliably maintain the colour consistency, purchase enough paint for each project including an adequate amount for touch-in at a later time.

Do not apply when air or substrate temperatures are likely to fall below 8ºC or when the relative humidity is above 80% during the application or the drying period

• Blend the pigment and paint medium thoroughly by stirring the paint before and regularly during the application
• Apply Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Eggshell with a good quality synthetic brush, microfibre roller, conventional spray or airless spray system
• If a spraying system is to be employed, then refer to the manufacturer for the correct dilution ratio
• If a brush is being used, it is recommended to use the "wet edge" technique to ensure a consistent opacity and high quality results
• If being applied onto a wooden surface, then lay off in the direction of the grain
• The normal finishing process requires 2 full coats of Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Eggshell, however this can vary if applied over a dark surface

Cleaning

Painted surfaces can be gently wiped with a damp cloth combined with a mild detergent to eliminate surface scuffs and marks.

Maintenance

To preserve the finish, simply apply a fresh coat of Crown Trade Fastflow Quick Dry Eggshell as required, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.
