Barrettine Anti-Slip Decking Oil is a premium quality, anti-slip, decking oil top coat, which incorporates anti-slip technology to improve grip on decking, wooden steps and other wood surfaces where improved grip is desirable, such as play frames.
Please Note: This product is an anti-slip top coat for decking oils and is not suitable for use as a stand-alone product. It is not intended for use in areas of constant high humidity, wet or damp areas such as shower rooms and around swimming pools.
Decked areas to be treated should be clean, dry and free from dirt, debris and other surface contaminates.
For all bare wood decking including tanalised, pressure treated and preservative impregnated decking timbers.
New hardwood decking usually requires a period of weathering to allow the surface grain to open up. This allows for better absorption of the decking oil. Check the decking manufacturer's guidance on how long decking should be left to weather before applying a decking treatment.
Always do a test area before beginning any project to assess performance, compatibility and end result. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
Do not apply Barrettine Anti Slip Decking Oil if the ambient temperature is below 5°, in wet conditions or if rain is likely within 24 hours of application. Decked areas should be completely dry before application. Stir thoroughly before and periodically during application to ensure a consistent finish.
To preserve the look and performance of the oiled finish for longer it is recommended that decked areas are swept with a stiff broom on a regular basis. This is to remove loose leaves, dirt and other organic matter that can settle on the decking boards and in the grooves, which can degrade or damage the finish and decking timbers over time.
Scuff marks, stains, grease and other surface contaminates can normally be cleaned with a decking cleaner. Stubborn marks and stains may require a light sanding and a thin application of Anti Slip Decking Oil to restore the affected area.
If the finish begins to look tired or worn over time, or begins to lose its anti-slip properties, simply apply a fresh coat of Barrettine Anti Slip Decking Oil, following the Preparation and Application instructions above. Renovation is recommended every 6 months, and more often for high traffic areas.
No, this is a topcoat only. 1 thin coat of Barrettine Decking Oil should be applied first before overcoating with Barrettine Anti-Slip Decking Oil
