Zinsser Gardz is a high performance, durable sealer for porous and problematic surfaces. It penetrates deeply, forming a tough, moisture resistant layer on powdery, chalky and crumbling surfaces, as well as on painted and textured surfaces. Ideal for use on dry wall, plaster, wallpaper adhesive residue, textured walls and ceilings and much more. Milky blue-white in colour when applied, drying to a clear finish.
To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be coated are sound, clean, dry and free from all defective or poorly adhering material, dirt, grease and dust.
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. Does not require thinning.
Only apply at temperatures ranging between 10°C and 32°C and a relative humidity of no more than 85%.
Clean brushes, rollers and any spillages immediately after use, using warm soapy water.
The Zinsser Wallpaper Cover-Up would be the correct product to use to cover shiny wallpaper but with all things, we recommend a test area to ensure you are happy with the results.
No, this would not be suitable to seal hessian. Please consider the Polyvine Decorators Varnish instead. If you specifically require a matt finish, we recommend applying 2 coats of satin followed by 1 coat of dead flat to achieve the best performance and durability.
No, the Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 or Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Plus would be more suitable over tiles.
The Zinsser Gardz is designed to seal surfaces which are problematic. As the banister is painted, it is unlikely to need a coat of Gardz. Why not give our Woodcare Experts a call on 01303 213838 to discuss your options.
This is not designed to be used as a top coat. It is simply a sealant for interior surfaces to form a durable, protective layer on porous and problematic areas. Instead, you may wish to consider a shellac-based primer and sealer such as Zinsser B-I-N which is designed for sealing in strong odours. This would still need a topcoat but would do a much better job. As you have recently whitewashed the walls, I would just check the preparation guidelines as this will differ depending on which method you used. It would depend as to why it has bubbled. Potentially yes, but without knowing the cause, it is difficult to say for sure. Our Woodcare Experts are on hand to help with this, please give us a call on 01303 213838.
Lime plaster usually requires a breathable paint such as Earthborn Claypaint. Slightly dampen the surface before application. Claypaint is perfect for old properties in need of breathable paint which allows moisture to move without being trapped.
Distemper walls are quite different and very problematic. Why not call our Woodcare Experts on 01303 213838 to discuss your options.
Gardz is designed to be used on porous surfaces to form a durable protective sealant on the substrate. Zinsser B-I-N could be better suited to this project with the aid of sanding to smooth the surface.
