Woca Antique Oak Lye is a reactive treatment used for giving oak an aged appearance, before treating with a Woca oil or soap. The Oak Lye chemically reacts with the natural tannin in the wood to draw the aged brown colour from the wood grain. It continues working long after application, achieving its final unique colour within 1 to 2 months. The more tannin in the oak, the darker the colour after application.
Ensure surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from dirt, dust and other surface contaminants prior to applying the reactive wood treatment.
Please note: Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and safety goggles whilst applying this product
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. The test area should include the final top-coat to be able to fully assess the finish baring in mind that the colour will continue to change for 1 to 2 months after completion. Shake well before use. Ensure room temperature stays around 20°C during application and drying. Thoroughly read and follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.
Keep any plants and aquariums away from the environment where this product is being applied.
Wash rollers and brushes immediately after use with water. Wipe tools thoroughly after application.
Woca Antique Oak Lye must be coated with a wood oil such as a Woca Wood Oil or Woca Soap to protect the finish.
Wooden floors should never be saturated with water as part of a cleaning routine as this will significantly reduce performance of the finish. Never use household cleaners / detergents as these may degrade or damage the finish.
Floors treated with Woca Antique Oak Lye and then finished with a Woca wood oil, can be easily cleaned and protected with Woca Commercial Soap and Woca Natural Soap to help maintain and protect the longevity of the surface.
