Sadolin Superdec provides a solution to most common issues associated with traditional paints. It can be applied to new and previously painted or stained surfaces, and is ideal for use where a complete change of colour is required or where the existing surface has become weathered and uneven in appearance. Sadolin Superdec Opaque Wood Protection is suitable for a wide range of surfaces, including:
This product is not suitable for use on wooden decking or floors, copper, polished concrete or concrete floors. For decking, see Sadolin Decking Oil, or alternatively our full range of Decking Treatments.
This product is mixed to order so unfortunately cannot be returned with the exception of the colours Black, Walnut and White. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Wooden surfaces to be treated with Sadolin Superdec must be suitably prepared, clean, dry and free from all traces of surface dust and debris. The moisture content should not exceed 18% prior to coating.
Always do a small test area before starting any project to assess product suitability, adhesion and finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
Do not apply if there is a risk of rain, or when air / substrate temperatures are below 8°C or above 25°C or the relative humidity is above 80% during application or drying periods. Protect from frost and rain until dry. Failure to meet these requirements may adversely affect the drying, visual quality and durability of the finish.
Ensure Sadolin Superdec Opaque Wood Protection is thoroughly stirred before and during application, otherwise sheen and colour variations may be experienced. Sadolin Superdec is supplied ready for use. Do not thin.
A lightening in colour, reduction in sheen and a loss of water-repellency is an indication that maintenance is required. For general maintenance, lightly abrade in the direction of the wood grain and clean using warm water and a mild detergent, then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Once dry, a fresh coat of Sadolin Superdec Opaque Wood Protection can be applied.
If the finish is badly flaking or peeling, to the point where the bare wood is showing through or has started to grey, please follow the full Preparation and Application instructions above.
This is generally not needed when using Sadolin Superdec unless you are using white or pale colours on resinous / knotty softwoods or coloured hardwoods. If using these, an initial coat of a suitable blocking primer is recommended to minimise the risk of discolouration from resins in timbers.
As a super flexible product, this paint works fantastically outside but it wouldn't be durable enough to be used inside under foot.
Yes, we would recommend a lighter colour on this surface due to the heat that a darker shade can attract. Give the surface a key and a clean up before use.
You certainly can. Be careful to ensure that the substrate is clean and sound with no peeling or flaking and apply two- three coats of Sadolin Superdec, depending on colour selection.
The green is most likely Algae, if so, that needs to be removed with an algae remover such as Ronseal Decking Cleaner and Reviver otherwise it may stop paint from adhering.
As standard, the Sadolin Superdec colour are all a satin finish (mid sheen) unless you specifically select the White/ Black Gloss option.
Absolutely, the Sadolin Superdec is a very flexible external paint, meaning that it resists peeling and flaking as the timber naturally expands and contracts.
Sadolin do not recommend spray application due to the thickness of the paint. Instead consider a good quality brush such as ProDec Premier Synthetic Brush or Marshall Velour Roller depending on what you are applying it to. Why not give our Woodcare Experts a call on 01303 213838 to discuss your options.
.Absolutely, it is such a versitile product for use on a range of substrates. We would recommend a lighter colour on this surface due to the heat that a darker shade can attract.
