Ensure surfaces to be treated are free from any dust, dirt, wax, grease, oil or other surface contaminants that could affect the adhesion of the varnish.
Remove any loose, flaking or peeling coatings with a scraper or a dedicated varnish remover, then treat as New Timber.
Always do a small test area before beginning any project to assess colour and compatibility of the finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. Stir thoroughly before and during use to insure a consistent finish.
Please Note: If you get any water on the varnish within the first couple of days, wipe it off gently with a clean, dry lint-free cloth. Do not rub it.
After use, brushes can be cleaned with warm, soapy water.
Varnished surfaces can be cleaned by wiping with a dry (or slightly dampened) lint-free cloth.
For stubborn marks, a dedicated wood cleaner can be used. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container.
If the finish begins to look worn over time, simply apply a fresh coat of Ronseal Diamond Hard Coloured Interior Varnish, following the Application instructions above.
To spot repair any scuffs or marks to the finish, simply clean the affected area and apply a fresh layer of varnish to the damaged area(s).
Ronseal do not specify a maximum/ minimum temperature it can be used with, however, this product is not designed to be used to protect from heat marks. We would recommend using coasters/ place mats where possible.
As this covers to 16m² per litre, per coat, we would expect a 750ml tin to cover approx 4.8m² with 3 coats.
We would recommend something which has been tried and tested with spillages and heat, giving a food safe finish. Why not call our Woodcare Experts on 01303 213838 to discuss your options.
