Ronseal Decking Oil nourishes and protects your decking. The natural oils stop your deck from splitting and greying, keeping it looking its best throughout the season. It's ready for the second coat in just 20 minutes.
NOTE: This product is not compatible with the now discontinued solvent-based Ronseal Decking Oil.Decked areas to be treated should be clean, dry and free from all traces of dust, dirt, oil, grease, wax and silicone.
For all bare wood decking, including tanalised, pressure treated and preservative impregnated decking timbers.
Hardwood decking usually requires a period of weathering to allow the surface grain to open up. This allows for better absorption of the oil. Check the decking manufacturer's guidance on how long it should be left to weather before applying Ronseal Decking Oil.
Old 'coating' type finishes, such as decking paints, varnishes, and coating type stains must be fully removed back to bare wood before oiling. Depending on the condition and type of finish, it may require more than one attempt to fully remove the old coating.
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times. Do not apply in damp conditions, when rain is likely, or in temperatures below 10°C. You should also ensure your deck is completely dry.
To preserve the oiled finish for longer, we recommend that wooden decking is swept with a stiff broom on a regular basis to remove loose leaves, dirt, and other organic matter. This prevents a build up of organic matter that can settle on the deck and in the grooves, which can degrade and damage the finish and decking timbers over time.
Scuff marks, stains, grease and other surface contaminates can be cleaned with a suitable decking cleaner prior to re-oiling.
Inspect the finish on an annual basis and apply a fresh coat of oil as and when required.
Q. How long does Ronseal Quick Dry Decking Oil last?
A. As with any decking oil, there is no way to specify how long it will last as it depends on how much wear it gets, how much weathering it receives and also the type and condition of the decking it's applied to. This said, decking oils are very easy to apply and maintain so when it does start to look a little worn or tired, a thin maintenance coat is all that is needed to make the decking look like new again.
Q. Is Ronseal Decking Oil sprayable?
A. Ronseal do not recommend spraying this product.
