Overview
Protek Stable Coat incorporates an ultra-high performance water repellent additive that uses nanotechnology to deliver an extreme hydrophobic layer of protection.
It is designed for the water-proofing of pressure treated timber buildings and offers excellent long term protection for stables, wooden outhouses, rabbit hutches, chicken coups, turkey sheds, kennels and other types of animal housing. Dries to a matt, soft sheen finish.
Preparation
Ensure the wood to be treated is clean, dry and free from dust, dirt or any other surface contaminants.
- Remove any biological growth such as mould and algae with a suitable mould and mildew cleaner
- If required, use a suitable wood preserver before application, such as Protek Wood Preserver Plus
- Fill any gaps or splits in the wood with a suitable wood filler
Application
Always do a test area before starting any project to test product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.
- Mix thoroughly before and periodically during use
- Apply two coats of Protek Stable Coat by pump-up garden sprayer, brush or roller
- Allow 3 hours between coats
- Extra coats will further enhance the colour and give more time before re-treatment is required
- Do Not apply in temperatures below 5°C
- Do Not apply to damp, wet or frozen timber
- Do Not apply if wet weather is expected within 48 hours
Aftercare
Regular Cleaning
Smooth wooden surfaces can be wiped down with a damp, lint-free cloth on a regular basis. A dedicated exterior wood cleaner may be used as and when required.
Maintenance
To maintain the finish and its protective qualities, simply apply a single coat of Protek Stable Coat as and when required.
