Overview
Protek Royal Interior Stain is a high quality, decorative wood stain finish, with an extensive colour range which is classic, contemporary and fits perfectly with modern design.
Its unique formulation is a water-based acrylic and alkyd hybrid that incorporates a polyurethane dispersion based on linseed oil. It is ideal for use on interior wooden window and door frames, skirting boards, furniture, floorboards and much more.
When using on floorboards, finish with a polyurethane sealant or varnish to protect against heavy foot traffic and large spillages.

Preparation
Ensure that wood to be stained is clean, dry and free from traces of dust, dirt or any other surface contaminants.
- Interior wood should be thoroughly cleaned with warm water, detergent and a stiff brush
- Previous treatments including paints and varnishes should be fully removed
- Treat areas affected by mould, mildew or algae with a suitable mould and mildew cleaner
- Allow the timber to dry fully
- If applying to bare timber, apply Protek Stain Blocking Primer or a knotting agent prior to application, to prevent any possible tannin and resin bleed staining the top coat
Application
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
- Mix thoroughly before and periodically during use
- Apply with a good quality synthetic bristle brush, microfibre roller or low pressure spray gun
- It is recommended that 2 coats be applied, with a 3rd coat if a deeper colour is required
- Allow 2-4 hours drying time between coats
- Do not apply in temperatures below 5°C
Please Note: Protek Royal Interior Stain is a high build formulation so each extra coat increases the colour and sheen. A lighter stain effect can be produced by applying a single coat of a colour with Royal Interior Clear on top. This also gives a harder surface finish, providing the fullest level of protection.
Aftercare
Maintain every 2 - 5 years or as required by cleaning the surface of the wood and following the preparation and application instructions above.
