Morrells Induro Acid-Cat Floor Varnish

Morrells Induro Acid-Cat Floor Varnish is a quick drying, two-component flooring lacquer for high traffic areas, such as most types of domestic and commercial flooring. Provides excellent resistance against abrasion, wet and dry heat, spirit solutions and most types of household chemicals. Meets the requirements of BS 6250 for horizontal surfaces and rated for heavy/severe use.

Ensure that surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free of any dust, dirt or other surface contaminants.

1. All previous finishes must be completely removed and surfaces sanded back to bare wood before application
2. Floors should be final sanded to between P120 and P240 and all dust residues should be completely removed with a vacuum cleaner
3. It is recommended that new, bare wood is wiped down with methylated spirit to clean and degrease
4. Fill any gaps or splits in the wood surface with Morrells Two-Part Coloured Wood Fillers or other suitable wood filler
5. Prior to varnishing, softwood surfaces can be stained with Morrells Light Fast Wood Stain if a colour change is desired

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

Morrells Induro Acid-Cat Floor Varnish comes supplied with enough catalyst / hardener for the 5 litres of lacquer. If part mixing, use 9 parts lacquer to 1 part catalyst. Under normal conditions, the catalysed lacquer will have a workable pot time of 36 hours.

Application

1. Apply with a mohair roller, floor applicator pad, flat brush or mop in the direction of the wood grain
2. Lacquer should be applied evenly, along the grain making smooth passes with the roller/pad
3. Allow to dry for 2 hours
4. Make sure to de-nib (lightly sand) the wood surface between coats, remove all sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner
5. Between 3-4 coats is typically sufficient for medium wear flooring areas and 4-5 for very high traffic areas
6. Best results are achieved when no more than 3 coats are applied per day

Once final coat has dried, light traffic can be resumed after 24 hours. Do not place furniture or move furniture across the floor surface for at least 3 days after application. Avoid mats, rugs or floor coverings for the first 5 days as this will impede final cure and general performance of the product.

Morrells Induro Acid-Cat Floor Varnish will typically require 21-28 days to reach full hardness, so wet cleaning and vacuuming should be avoided until after this period.

The use of good quality entrance mats and furniture pads are recommended to avoid damage to the finish. Surfaces should be swept or vacuumed regularly to avoid the build up of dust or grit as this becomes abrasive and will degrade this finish. A soft cloth or mop lightly dampened with a solution of water and dedicated flooring cleaner can also be used, as and when required.
