Manns Trade Intense Primer

Manns Trade Intense Primer is an isolating primer specifically designed for problematic wood types including new pine and dense tropical hardwoods such as Teak, Mahogany, Jarrah, Sheesham, Ipe, Meranti, Iroko. It's unique formula isolates and bonds with the wood to provide a durable basecoat for a wide range of interior wood and floor varnishes.

This product is particularly suitable for use on refurbished flooring, as it will seal any remaining contaminants in the wood substrate which may otherwise cause application, appearance or drying problems with flooring lacquers.

Please Note: This product is for interior projects and professional use only. Care should be taken when over-coating solvent-based wood stains to avoid dislodging or dragging the colour.

Alternative Manns Wood Primers

Surfaces to be primed and varnished must be clean, dry and free from surface dirt, dust and other contaminants prior to application.

• Fill any gaps or imperfections in the wood with a suitable wood filler
• Ensure that floors and other wooden surfaces have been correctly sanded
• Vacuum all traces of sanding dust and degrease timber with methylated spirit if required

If required, softwood floors can be stained with Manns Classic Pine Stain and hardwood floors with Manns Classic Oak Stain.

Please note: To use Manns Light Fast Wood Stain with this product, a minimum drying time of 1 hour is recommended to give enough time for the Manns Trade Intense Primer to cure before overcoating.

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.

Optimum application is achieved between 18°C and 22°C with good air movement and ventilation.

1. Apply primer with a synthetic bristle brush or other suitable applicator, in the direction of the wood grain
2. Allow 1 hour 30 mins to dry
3. Then over-coat with a Manns water-based varnish or lacquer

Please note: If applying the primer over a solvent-based wood-stain or dye, care should be taken when applying the first coat. Apply the first coat of primer gently and thinly with the minimum of brush or roller strokes. This is to avoid dislodging or dragging the stain. Ones the primer is dry, subsequent coats of varnish can be applied without issue.

Once dry, Manns Trade Intense Primer is ready to be over-coated with a suitable varnish or lacquer.
