Holzol Furniture Oil Tints

Holzol Furniture Oil Tints both stains and protects a wide range of bare wood or recently stripped furniture. These coloured wood oils are designed to enhance and complement the natural beauty of wooden furniture.

Surfaces to be treated should be clean, dry and free from dirt, dust, oil, grease, wax, silicone, and any other surface contaminants.

• For guaranteed performance, it is always recommended to remove all traces of previous finishes
• Previously oiled surfaces can be lightly sanded or cleaned / degreased with a lint-free cloth dampened with methylated spirit
• Old wax coatings should be removed with a suitable wax and polish remover
• Existing varnishes, paints and sealers must be completely removed back to clean, bare wood by sanding or using a suitable paint and varnish remover
• Take care to remove all traces of sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner or soft cloth prior to oiling

Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability of final finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

Ensure good ventilation during application and drying. Stir thoroughly prior to application.

1. Apply a thin, even film of oil with a natural bristle brush or lint-free cotton cloth in the direction of the wood grain
2. If required, and especially with exotic timbers, the first coat can be thinned with a high quality white spirit
3. Allow to dry for 6 - 8 hours, then lightly abrade with 220 / 240 silicon carbide abrasive
4. Remove all traces of sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner or soft cloth
5. Apply a second coat, as above
6. Allow 12 hours to completely dry

Please Note: Using these products in systems outside these guidelines can lead to immediate and latent problems with the integrity of the finish.

Regular Cleaning

Surfaces treated with Holzol Furniture Oil Tints can be cleaned using a slightly damp, lint-free cloth. For more intensive cleaning, a dedicated wood cleaner for oiled furniture can be used.

Maintenance

If the finish becomes tired looking, worn or damaged, lightly abrade (sand) with a 240 / 320 silicon carbide abrasive and apply a further thin coat of oil, following the Preparation and Application instructions above.
