Fiddes Wood Filler Gel

I used this product to repair some cracks between planks on an antique table that I was refurbishing following the instructions on your website in detail. I found that the excess which I scraped off immediately left a sheen either side of the filled area and couldn't be sanded off despite hours of trying with an electric sander. When the fiddes hard wax finish was applied, the sheen from the gel was excentuated further against the matt finish of the wax. So far calls to the fiddes and wood finishes direct technical team have not provided a solution and it appears our table is ruined.

Great product, mix up with sanded floor dust and fill any gaps in your flooring.

Creates a great filler when mixed well in the right quantities with the sawdust from the project. You’ll get the hang of the ratio and consistency of the mix as you go, I found it best to have it a bit wetter. Only issue is it goes off very quickly so you must work fast. Also the fumes from this stuff is strong and not nice so work in a well ventilated room or get a mask on.

Good colour matching using sanding dust, so a pretty universal filler to keep in. Dries quickly and sands well. Minor criticism is that it dries out super quickly when using, so only mix very small quantities at a time.

Allows for excellent colour blending when filling in nail holes or other wood filling requirements by combining sawdust of wood in target area with the Fiddes gel. Easy to use, dries quickly and lasts. Discovered this product when browsing for wood fillers on Wood Finishes Direct. WFD really know their products and consistently v competitive on price.

Had some Oak doors that needed a bit of touching up. I have used pre-mixed fillers in the past but getting the right colour is almost impossible so decided to try the Fiddes gel. Using the sanding dust gave an excellent match. There were also some knots that needed filling so I dyed some of the dust with black wood dye then mixed it with some undyed dust. Could not be happier with the results.

Mix with fine sawdust saved from cutting the timber that you are filling, added same Osmo treatment used on timber, filled shrinkage of outdoor wood. Definitely 5 star product and 5 star service at WFD.

...but sawdust to mix with gel can only be collected in a hoover (henry) vacuum bag. Of course you do not get the grain of the wood and Fiddes say as much. However not too good on large areas as it gives a rather sandy patch in the middle of the wood [repairing my old elm back staircase)

Do not mix up to much at once as product will go off quick

A perfect binder for wood dust sanded off, the resultant ‘filler’ can them be used on the floor and resanded for a perfect finish.

I needed to fill some woodworm and scratches on an antique pine chest of drawers but couldn't match the colour. I found the filler gel on line and it is very good but I would recommend that you experiment first before using it on the actual piece. It becomes less workable quite quickly though that might be because I used too much dust to gel ratio. It sanded perfectly to a smooth finish. Terrific product.

Used this with (finely ground) shavings from surface finish of off cuts from kitchen cabinets to fill gaps on cornice and pelmet. Did the job nicely, but testing to get the right mix is required.
