Dulux Trade Stain Block Matt

Dulux Trade Stain Block Matt is a reformulation of the previous Dulux Trade Stain Block Primer. The new version is now suitable for use as both a primer and topcoat. It has been formulated to prevent the migration of stains through the finished paint film and to seal and bind dry, friable and powdery interior surfaces such as plaster, brick and distemper. It is the effective treatment for stains caused by: water-based and solvent-based inks, crayon, biro, coffee, grease, scuff marks, water and nicotine.

For the best results, ensure surfaces to be primed are sound, clean and dry (new surfaces particularly must be fully dry) and free from all defective or poorly adhering material such as efflorescence, dirt, grease or wax.

Please Note: When blocking stains caused by water or damp, make sure the original cause of the problem has been rectified. When Dulux Trade Stain Block Matt is applied initially, it will draw the stain into itself and then seal it - this is not a defect.

1. Where necessary, surfaces should be rubbed down using a suitable abrasive paper
2. Fill any holes and imperfections with a suitable multi-purpose filler
3. Remove all traces of sanding dust before application
4. Take special precautions during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead

Always do a test area before starting any project to check product suitability and effectiveness. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.

This product is not suitable for spray application.

1. Stir thoroughly before and periodically during use
2. Apply Stain Block Matt with a good quality synthetic brush or microfibre roller
3. Apply 1 full coat to all bare or stained surfaces
4. Allow 6-8 hours before recoating, on very porous surfaces a longer drying time may be required
5. Apply a second coat for difficult stains if necessary
6. Do not abrade (sand) Dulux Trade Stain Block Matt before applying a top coat

Once fully dry, primed surfaces can be finished with 1 - 2 coats of Dulux Trade Stain Block Matt or an appropriate Dulux Trade paint as below.
