Bona Intense Primer is a water-based primer for flooring, which gives a medium-rich wood colouration. Perfect for floors with underfloor heating and/or moving floors such as end grain or plank floors. It is especially suitable on tropical hardwood floors and can be used to seal-in floor stains prior to varnishing.
Looking for a standard floor primer or one that produces a different effect? Consider these alternative Bona floor primers:
Product | Use |
Bona Classic Primer | A trade quality water-borne wood primer for use on all wood floors |
Bona Natural Primer | A wood floor primer designed to preserve the look of raw, untreated wood |
Bona White Primer | A high quality wood primer that creates a 'white-washed' effect on wood flooring |
Bona Amber Primer | A water-borne wood primer that produces a rich amber effect on wood flooring |
Ensure that floors and other wooden surfaces are acclimatised to their end-use environment. The surface to be coated must be clean, dry and free from sanding dust, oils, waxes and any other surface contaminants.
Always do a test area before starting any project to assess product suitability and finish. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the container at all times.
Allow the container to reach room temperature. For the best results, apply in conditions that are 18-25°C and 40-60% relative air humidity. High temperatures and low humidity shorten drying time, low temperatures and high humidity lengthen the drying time. Minimum temperature for use is 13°C.
Once dry, Bona Intense Primer must be over-coated with one of the following water-based top coats:
Product | Use |
Bona Mega Varnish | A clear, water-based, ready-to-use, polyurethane varnish for wooden flooring |
Bona Traffic HD | A two-part waterborne lacquer for heavy traffic environments |
Bona Traffic HD Anti Slip | A two-part, polyurethane anti-slip varnish for wooden floors and stairs |
