Barrettine Teak Oil is natural oil ideal for retaining the natural beauty of hardwood garden furniture, such as Teak. Perfect for feeding, nourishing and reviving the look of the wood, reducing the effects of weathering.
Areas to be treated should be clean, dry and free from traces of dust, dirt, grease, wax and silicone.
Old coating type finishes such as paints, varnishes and varnish-type stains must be fully removed back to bare wood before oiling. Depending on the condition and type of finish, it may require more than one attempt to fully remove the old coating.
Once the old finish has been completely removed / cleaned, refer to the preparation instructions for bare or untreated wood above.
Always do a small test area before starting any project to check suitability and compatibility. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the tin at all times.
Please Note: Barrettine state that Teak Oil is not recommended for use on Oak. This said, however, many of our customers have used Teak Oil on Oak and have been happy with the results.
Additional coats of Barrettine Teak Oil can be applied as and when the finish starts to look tired, worn or if it begins to lose its water resistance. Simply clean the surface first to remove any traces of dust and dirt, then apply a fresh coat of Teak Oil as per the Application instructions above.
Redwood is a softwood; Teak Oil is a thin type of oil specifically designed for hardwoods density. I would instead consider Cuprinol Ultimate Furniture Oil which has added UV filters
Teak oil will enhance the natural beauty of the grain as it penetrates the timber and nourishes it. It will not remove stains. Why not call our Woodcare Experts on 01303 213838 to discuss your options.
