With the new season, why not try a new brand? Introducing Protek. Protek are a family run company from the rolling hills of beautiful Somerset. Their product ranges are inspired by the lavish countryside and the distinguished heritage houses nestled within it. They have successfully combined modern water-based technology and paired it with a traditional style that is suitable for almost any exterior wood. This results in a traditional, old fashioned look that is normally associated with high-solvent exterior paint products, without harming any of the flora or fauna around it.
Protek wood stains are great at colouring and protecting most exterior wood. Available in both semi-translucent and opaque formulas, they’ll give you long lasting colour and weather protection, which makes them ideal for a number of exterior wooden projects including sheds, fences, garden furniture, animal enclosures and much more. Better yet, they’re pet and plant friendly once dry.

I Have just had a Summerhouse erected in my garder. the wood in virgin wood and we are going to use it as a dog grooming salon. what would you recommend for both Interior and Exterior
Good Afternoon Christine,
Thank you for getting in touch with your enquiry. The first thing for me to let you know is that most products, interior and exterior, will be animal safe once dried. I would recommend allowing a week or two before putting into use, to allow any smell to disperse, it may not be too obvious to us, but to dogs the smell will be stronger.
We supply a wide range of products for projects such as yours and so if you would like to get in touch via our contact us Page with details of the wood type and the look you are hoping to achieve. Coloured or clear? Opaque or transparent ? And anything else you think may be relevant and I can narrow down some options for you to consider.
As a starting point I would recommend looking at preservers for the outside first as these help to prevent mould and decay. And then top coats products to protect from UV damage and moisture ingress.
Once you get back us with those further details we will be able to help further.
All the Best Samantha.
can you recommend an Osmo product [wood stain natural oil maybe] for a large pine internal ceiling, made from reclaimed high quality old pine.
Many thanks Peter
Good Afternoon Peter,
For an interior product I would recommend the Osmo Polyx Oil Tints this is a colour and protection in one product, with just two thin coats required for application. I would strongly recommend a sample tin first to try on the Pine, the type age and condition of the wood will impact on the colour result and particularly with aged Pine, the results can sometime be unpredictable.
If you take a look at this one and read up on the details to see if it would suit your needs and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to let me know.
Kind regards Samantha.
