Manns Classic Pine Stain is manufactured from the finest ingredients and quality pigments, which in turn enhances the overall grain structure of the wood. Lesser quality stains can produce a 'washed out' effect, cover the wood grain or dry to a zebra crossing effect.
This stain can be mixed with other colours in the range to achieve 1,000's of new shades. The stain can also be diluted with water to produce lighter, less concentrated shades and colours.
Please Note: This product is only suitable for interior wooden surfaces, and is not suitable for high moisture environments such as bathrooms and shower rooms.
Wooden surfaces to be stained must be clean, dry and free from dirt, dust and any other surface contaminants, including traces of oil, wax, polish, paint and varnish.
Always do a test area, including the final top coat finish (varnish, wax or oil), before starting any project to assess product suitability, colour and final finish.
Manns Pine Wood Stains are very easy to apply and have a good open time which helps to keep a wet edge, allowing time for tidying up runs and puddles. Minor runs will normally dry out evenly and should not be noticeable when the wood stain has fully dried.
Manns Classic Pine Stain must be sealed with a top coat system, such as a wood varnish, wax or wood oil.
Please note: After applying Manns Wood Stain and before applying a varnish, oil or wax top-coat, it is essential that the surface of the wood is denibbed or lightly sanded. All traces of sanding dust must then be thoroughly removed with a vacuum cleaner. Failure to do this may result in adhesion issues with varnish or lacquer top-coats. This is especially so with the 'white' wood stain. Special care should also be taken when applying the top coat over the water-based stain as excessive brush or roller strokes over the same area may potentially dislodge or drag the stain from the timber.
White wood stains need special care when finishing. Clear top-coats such as varnishes and oils can often make white wood stains appear 'creamy' or 'off-white'. It is recommended that you contact us when considering a top-coat for a white wood stain.

Manns Classic Pine Stain for softwoods will give a different result if applied to Pine and Oak, or any other combination of soft and hardwoods. The colour can be adjusted by adding water to dilute the shade or by mixing with a darker colour from the same range to achieve a darker shade. If trying to achieve a similar colour on Pine and Oak we recommend using this product on Pine and the same colour from the Manns Classic Oak Stain on the Oak.
Yes, this can be added to the Manns Varnish varnish up to 10% to achieve a light tint, this will create your own bespoke coloured varnish.
This is a great idea to keep the wood looking very light and natural. I would suggest starting at a low mix and do test areas to assess the overall result.
